Our Story

It all began when our local founder, Marcel, shared the dream of transforming his family’s hostel into a unique bungalow resort. Joined by his fellow surfers and friends, the team started a journey to create a one-of-a-kind experience for travellers seeking adventure and relaxation.

Before HIMA Bungalows, the place has been known by name JJ’s Losmen. HIMA Bungalows is run by the same lovely family Wau as before. So, if you have stayed at JJ’s, you will meet familiar faces at HIMA.

Nestled on a piece of land owned by Marcel’s family for generations, Hima Bungalows is a testament to their love for the island and its people. We strive to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Nias Island while providing our guests with exceptional hospitality and comfort.
